Space Adventures' President and CEO Honored for Vision Realized
July 21 2006
Eric Anderson, president and CEO of the world's leading space experiences company, Space Adventures, Ltd., today received the Space Frontier Foundation's 'Vision to Reality' award for his successful launch and operation of the only company that offers commercial space travel.
The award was presented during the foundation's gala in conjunction with the 'NewSpace 2006' conference.
"Sometimes it takes a dream to open our eyes to the infinite potential that lies before us," said Mr. Anderson. "But dreaming is easy. I accept this award not only on my and my company's behalf, but also on the behalf of all who work past the obstacles that would otherwise impede the realization of our shared vision of opening the space frontier. Together, we will continue to build an industry."
Space Adventures, the only company to have successfully launched private explorers to space, is headquartered in Vienna, Va. with offices in Cape Canaveral, Fla., Moscow and Tokyo. It offers a variety of programs such as the availability today for orbital spaceflight missions to the International Space Station, commercial missions around the moon, Zero-Gravity and jet flights, cosmonaut training, spaceflight qualification programs and reservations on future suborbital spacecrafts. The company's advisory board includes Apollo 11 moonwalker Buzz Aldrin, Shuttle astronauts Sam Durrance, Robert Gibson, Tom Jones, Byron Lichtenberg, Norm Thagard, Kathy Thornton, Pierre Thuot, Charles Walker, Skylab astronaut Owen Garriott and Russian cosmonaut Yuri Usachev.
